Montessori Music Notes Weekly Update 02.08.2020

 In K-3 Montessori Music

We are learning, “Hine Mah Tov,” a Hebrew folk song, and the students have already mastered it as a round! A round is a form of composition in which each singer or instrumentalist carries the same melody but begins and ends at different points. Singing rounds gives young children the skills they need to learn how to sing harmony, which simply means singing their own part when someone else is singing a different part.

A highlight from the week was using our gathering drums to explore micro and macro beats and learn note value.

Ms. Dywike’s Class on gathering drums.

Learning the values of musical notes through movement and play.

Next week we will introduce this note a note value with a game that is similar to the math fraction bars they are using in class. If you would like to print this at home the image is a link to the source:

Thank you to all those who signed their children up to sing at the Montessori fundraiser. They are working so hard!

Musically Yours,

Ms. Kerby
